Up in Smoke at Honey Eatery & Social Club

July 24 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

317 East Sherman

Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814

A note from Chef Justin Klauba

For our first Secret Burger event, we thought what would be more exciting than a bbq… but let’s do it in style! We will be wheeling in a giant 3 chamber smoker in front of the building for a display of 3 completely different flavor profiles using smoke. One price, three super unique dishes and one hell of a party!

Starting things off will be Smoked Watermelon, rich apple and hickory smoke paired with its natural sweetness. We will be pickling some of the rind and marinating feta on Arugula and finishing it with a Champagne Vinaigrette

The show-stopper will be a slow smoked heritage pig after a deep brine in lemongrass, soy, ginger and garlic. Then served with kimchi, pickled ramps and Ajisuke Tamago (Marinated 6 minute egg) on fresh steamed brown rice.

Last but not least, comes dessert. We really wanted to have some fun with this one. We are going to make a smoked chocolate and bone marrow Gateaux (traditional French cream and fruit layered cake) with Salted Honey Caramel, Milk Foam, Cherry White Chocolate Crémeux, Graham Cracker Tuille and Nuggets of Smoked Bone Marrow stuffed in cherries.

Since this is a coursed dinner, it will start promptly at 6pm. We also will have paired cocktails and beers available ala carte for each course.

Reserve yours for $40 per ticket

Fondo on the Palouse showcases the rolling hills of the Palouse and its local communities. All routes begin in Moscow, Idaho before traversing through the local communities of Troy, Deary, Princeton, Potlatch, Palouse, Colfax and Pullman. Ride options range from 15 to 100 miles.

T-Jay Clevenger, founder of the Fondo on the Palouse, envisions a large event with routes for both competitive and non-competitive cyclists. The event currently has four routes to challenge all participants.

The Family Fondo is a 15 mile route beginning in Moscow Idaho and ending in Troy, Idaho.

The Potlatch Fondo is a 50 mile route beginning in Moscow Idaho, passing through Troy, Deary, and Princeton Idaho ending in Potlatch, Idaho.

The Moscow Fondo is a 100 mile route beginning in Moscow Idaho, passing through Troy, Deary, Princeton and Potlatch Idaho before continuing on to Colfax and Pullman Washington. From Pullman cyclist complete the last leg of the Fondo returning to Moscow.

Fondo on the Palouse provides an opportunity to engage, entertain and support local communities, non-profits and individuals of the Palouse through the active and healthy lifestyle of touring by bicycle.

Who does the Fondo Benefit?

The Fondo on the Palouse supports the Latah Trail Foundation. The Latah Trail Foundation (LTF) was founded in the spring of 1998, by a handful of people with a vision for safe, non-motorized transportation and recreation along the former Moscow-Arrow rail line.

With a mission to preserve the historic Moscow-Arrow railroad corridor for non-motorized recreational and transportation uses for Latah County, its residents and visitors, and to provide Latah County and its communities with support to provide this physical connection to their past and open an avenue for their future.

Proceeds from the Fondo on the Palouse will help support the Latah Trail Foundation and other local non-profits. https://www.latahtrailfoundation.org/

Local non-profits also benefit from the Fondo. Each non-profit that volunteers at an aid station earns a cash donation from the Fondo on the Palouse. Last year 9 non-profits each received over $300.00.

Libery Lake Wine Cellars Book Club

July 30 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Libery Lake Wine Cellars Book Club

Sarah, co-owner of Liberty Lake Wine Cellars,  had always wanted to be in a book club, but she didn’t want one that was stuffy or required anything of its members. She just wanted to read good books and get suggestions from other likeminded book lovers.

And so was born the LLWC Book Club!

Focused mainly on fiction, the book club tries to vary it’s book selections. The group meets the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. for an informal discussion of the month’s chosen book. It is not a requirement to read the entire book (or even to read the book at all), but the meeting opens with a book discussion. The latter half of the meeting includes discussions on other books and about life in general.

Everyone is welcome at book club, and we hope to see you at a meeting soon.
